A Wake vs. Crawling Off To Die

My cat had some bad indigestion Friday, wouldn't even take any hairball remedy. He heaved twice. I thought he wolfed down a mouse pretty fast that day, maybe its little skull was blocking up Elvis's digestion. Elvis is/was my cat.

He wasn't around at all yesterday and I looked all around his usual sleeping places in the yard. Warned the kids he might have run off or be sleeping, so tell us if you see Elvis sleeping. He was 11 years old, from a litter in our 'Las Brisas o Arbresas' apartment courtyard in Dallas. His sister BB ran off from Tyne Valley in 1998 I think it was.

Running off leaves open a lot of possibilities more substantial than a mere ghost. The surprise return always hanging out there, never happening. I guess if people who where sick and knew they where dying ran off instead of being waked and buried there would be a lot of loose ends. To begin with, unless your the outdoorsy type, one would likely only 'run off' to the park or maybe the woods by town. That presents a public health/mental health issue with all the remains of the run oft. Spooky. I hope I don't happen upon the fly buzzing former fuzzy friends fluffy carcass. Elvis where are you?
