UPS: What Can Brownouts Do For You?
First a super localized squall makes a dust storm at the Oyster Festival that carries away the giant inflatable kids jump thing, if it was a few minutes earlier it would have carried off a girl named Katrina. Seriously.
Now today it's rolling thunder and power bumps. The Dominion Building had some power problems or was it the DJM Building? My server at home went off and stayed off. I have a UPS for my DSL, wifi, and cordless phone but not for my server. Hey! It just went bump again.
I guess a notebooks best advantage over a desktop is the built in battery back up in your notebook.
Anyway, the killer today is the number of brownouts. It must be about 25 times it went flicker or dimmed. Thats gotta have some spikes in there at some point. The repeated power bumps will grind some devices up, like a PC that reboots 25 times. With no shutdown - just click. Anything that boots and is not on battery today is all shook up.
ATV is all shook up.
Rogers Wireless is all shook up.
Ruk.ca's Merakis are NOT shook up,
Tesla & Franklin! I'm going kite flying.
