Computers are the new TVs

Now that over-the-air television broadcast is set to pull the plug on analog in August, 2011 you will need to purchase a conversion box to continue watching CBC at the cottage. The US did this more than a year ago, turning conventional TV channels 2-13 to snow static. This will hurry the trend towards watching your TV over the internet which means connecting a computer to your TV, which may be a wide-screen set with an HDMI or VGA input. The Mac Mini works well. It has a remote with sound, runs quietly and plays DVDs.

The big problem is what to watch, and more specifically what ends to go to get content.
How do I watch TV on the internet?

NetFlix.ca costs $9.99 a month but the catalog is a bit out of date although the situation is improving. Many broadcasters offer video repeats online like citytv.ca, global.ca, cbc.ca, and others. The US broadcasters usually block their content from playing in Canada.

Death by Distraction

Air safety takes a lot of our attention and money and time, while the real killing machine sits in your driveway. Your car is many, many times more likely to get in an accident. While we take our eyes off the road and obsess about air safety, drivers are busy texting, talking and eating.

River Chameleon

Sunken log apertures pattern the tan on a speckled trout
Body temperature of the river, cold blooded eye, stout

Twitching lures launch flashes out through to the air
Gulp snap lashes of water stream rainbow flair

Flashes of lightning, moonlight, the pattern of a leaf

Your story, your place, written dark and light
in brackish tattoos from the aqua camera obscura

Skin covers other stories told in pink and white.
Homes, roams, divine unseen never told tales within bones?
