Ethanol vs. Hemp

Farmers of the world! There are two new crops to choose! Sugar or hemp? Not that new really, just out of favour in this modern island.
Which crop is more useful? Because they are both pretty darn useful. For example the Ethanol you buy at the liquor store gets you high, and it makes great fuel & medicine! Or don't ferment it and you've got sugar. On the other hand, the Marijuana you buy illegally gets you high, and hemp makes strong fibres and cloth. Hemp can be grown legally if it is industrial hemp.

I've heard Ethanol is a scam that doesn't help save oil because it actually takes more energy to farm it than it produces; and that hemp might save on pesticides and is a very hardy plant that produces oils, rope, cloth and gives more per acre.
