Netflix.ca

This winter in the US we signed up for Netflix which mails DVD movies to us, and then we put them in our mailbox, raise the little red flag and they are mailed back. Besides being really handy it has let us watch a lot of independent and foreign movies we never would have seen. It's nice to search the website with so many choices, rather than walk the isles of blockbusters.

My question is there anything like Netflix in Canada?

We get one DVD checked out at a time for $9.99/mo. It's pretty much a new DVD every three or four days. Did you know the US Post Office delivers on Saturdays?

I used to subsribe to Nflix in the US and now until recently I had Zip.ca but it sucks big time. I am looking for something better than zip.

For a charge of 28 bucks they have a quota of 11 dvd rentals per month. So if you view over 11 dvds you are done for the month. Otherwise you will have to pay additional $2.61.

I used Zip.ca for awhile and they were horrible. They kept sending me the wrong DVDs and their customer service was incredibly disorganized. I think they kept backing up their database b/c no matter what I did I could not unsubscribe. I had to fight with them for money they owed me after I cancelled as they kept taking my money out of my account! I do not recommend Zip.ca at all!

RogersDirect is the same as Zip.ca. You'll noticed the Zip.ca logos on the site. And I agree - Zip really sucks. I had the same problem cancelling. Consumer services just suck in Canada compared to the US. Too small a market, no competition. When I lived in Los Angeles, Netflix was the best. I couldn't believe there was nothing decent in Canada, but that's the case.

I've heard good things about Starflix.com, which is a Canadian site. Don't use them personally, but a friend does, and he hasn't had any trouble.

I was a member of Zip.ca but I wouldn't recommend them at all. I have also tried Cyberflix and Dvdflix however they are even worse than Zip. The bottom line here is that Canada hasn't yet found a buisness that can compair to the US market. On the bright side Blockbuster has already started an on line dvd rental service in the States and it has done well. They intend to venture into the Canadian markets, but are waiting for a public interest. I have already e-mailed blockbuster.com and indicated that there was a Canadian market, and I suggest anyone reading this e-mail should do the same.

Oh my god finally there's Canadian companies that are similar to Netflix because they don't cater to Canadians. It would really help Canadians to have Netflix only for Candadians. I hate it when American companies only cater to the Americans and not the Canadians who want to use them but can't.
