Hawaii: It doesn't suck
I posted a week ago about my dissapointment at what I found in Honolulu, and finally after a week of driving to work in the traffic we got out this weekend to the north shore. It was a relief from the big city, and has restored my concept of tropical paradise. Also the shave ice was pretty good.
We went to a Luao at Germaines Luao Saturday night with the baby and our two year old. There were other kids (keiko's) there too, but only a few. Germaines was recommended by the locals at MOBI PCS where I've been working, although native Hawaiians would never go to a luao, it's strictly a tourist thing. I'm glad we know now what a luao is. I like the fire dancing but the food was just fair (think noodle salad & fried chicken on paper plates) and the whole thing had a wierd feeling to it. It was like being on a day trip with a busload of nursing home patients, but then I'm getting kind of old so maybe I am in denial.
