Little Ball of String

Michael Pendergast sang a new song last night he'd composed about a ball of string found in his grandfathers shed in a tin can. Saving bits of string tied together in a ball. I like that way of life that saves bits of string. Then the first thing I think about is how plastic-shrink-wrap packaging is all that is left from a Walmart purchase today. Fixing your Bubble Jet Printer with a piece of string is also impossible. Just throw it out, buy a new one. Things are disposable today not as fixable as they used to be, it's hard being crafty in a micro plastic, velcro world. I imagine today who has a ball of string they collected? I remember all the rubber-band balls at Canada Post where they had hot and cold running elastic bands available. You could make a really hard rubber band ball and it would bounce! If we could build 'ball-of-string' radar I think we'd find today some handy craft folks here and there with balls of string, despite how disposable our products have become.
I want to sing a parody song of future children: they sing about finding a ball of polystyrene wrap in their future grandpa's shed!
