Windows Media Player: Fucking up Your PC's Volume.
Only Windows Media Player or WMP (pronounced wimp) is the only player that changes the WAVE VOLUME when you change the volume on the WMP. Winamp, RealPlayer, every other player only adjusts the MASTER VOLUME, which is easy to find with a single right click in the bottom right speaker icon. The WAVE VOLUME is a level deeper, a double click to a panel with multiple controls. This is the quagmire WMP puts you in when you stray, after leaving the volume low in WMP. The other players then seem too low to hear.
I have experienced this for years but finally articulated it today.
