Black Eyed Peas at CDP Review

It started at 7pm for us. There was no lineup, and once we crossed the gravel racetrack itself there was a lot of kids (actual 8 year old kids) on blankets. Immediately went to the Beer Garden, where the bathrooms were plentiful and the beer as well. A few people on blankets, no kids of course, and we threw down our blanket and chilled for a while as Philosopher Kings wound up.
Lots of Pizza Hut boxes and Canadian white plastic beer cups strewn everywhere. That got thicker as thing went on. Found three $20 bills on ground!

Pussycat dolls where in and out in five songs, and we realized how far back we were from the stage. Once it got dark, everyone was very noticibly taking cell phone pics and looking at them. Black Eyed Peas took the stage and with a big 50' video screen suddenly the event happened for me - super sharp screen and good sound ( Iwas actually expecting more gut hitting bass, but it was ok) . The sound system cut out three times for a few minutes each time, they kept singing and you could hear the monitor speakers on stage but no PA. The last time it cut out, the screen was flashing 'LOUDER' which was actually part of the song but with the sound off everyone just started screaming LOUDER! LOUDER! The sound problems didn't really spoil it much. They sang a lot of songs and rocked. Well done.

Strangest moment for me was when everyone help up cell phones in the dark, with nary a Bic to be seen. It looked surreal, I refused to raise my Bic or LG3200 as I come from a generation who raised no lights during concerts. I think the cell phone's in the dark where for the troops in Iraq or something. Generation Cell is born.
