CBC Commercial Free?

I haven't had cable since 1993. So I'm getting basic cable from Eastlink, wich is $23 a month.
The cable actually stops at my driveway, I'll be on the fringe of the village network.
And, then I find out the senate wants to make CBC completely public funded (costs about $400million), I would love to see a channel with no commercials. I hate commercials.
