What's the 'S' stand for? Search me!

Airport security randomly puts a capital letter S on tickets to tip off the TSA agents that you need extra searching. S stands for SUCKS being humiliated!

What did I do to require extra searching? Was it that nasty (yet non threatening) feedback I gave on the Homeland Security webpage that expressed just how stupid I think their entire agency is?
That was last year, when the site was inviting feedback which it does not now do.

My question is: If you had a choice to fly on an airline that had no screening, just like trains & buses, and you got to pocket the difference in ticket price that now goes to pay for all those people and machines that give such a wonderful illusion of security - would you take your chances? I bet security adds 20% to the price and 20% to the time it takes to fly. Now that they have fixed the only real problem that led to 9/11 - unsecured cockpit doors - why all the rest of this humiliating crap?
The cost savings could go towards extending first class amenities to all passengers - wouldn't you rather be served warm nuts than feel a security agents cold hand on yours?

Does anyone really feel safer on one side of the security line or the other?

I think the unnatural act of launching yourself into the air 30,000 feet high is the source of these irrational fears that persuade us to do whatever we can to make it safer - even if the scurity overkill is as stupid as we all know it is.

So, would you prefer to take your chances without security and pay less or go through all the TSA crap, pay more, and still be at risk of being shot by an air marshall?

Total passengers killed by terrorists this year: 0
Total passengers killed by TSA Air Marshalls this year: 1

I'll take the money please.
