Supermarket: Cheap Guilt vs. Expensive Guilt
A beef steak on a foam package (with some kind of pad under it to soak up blood?) and wrapped in plastic wrap with a price sticker that will turn black in the microwave. This is how I get my meat. Except for the few scraps of venison, rabbit, and wild ducks & geese that bypass the supermarket and land on my plate usually on a barter with a hunter. The wild meat is exciting. It was shot. Not shocked, knocked and hung out of a truck.
Morrisey sang 'Meat is Murder' and I when I heard that song from The Smiths in 1983 I thought what would the farmers think of this song; with it's cows mooing and saws whining on bones intro it hit a point we miss at the supermarket about taking an animal to eat - the hunt and gore.
I think the blood & guts costs a hunter an emotional check that a points winning, cart-pushing carnivore may never know. How dreary.
